Leaving a Legacy - Why you Should Print your Photos

It's sad to think that we are raising a generation that is becoming accustomed to not printing the images that they take. Today, people are taking more images than we, as the human race, ever have before and at the same time we're also losing our memories and images faster than ever. We have started to rely on technology to keep those memories save on a hard drive or USB, but we need to remember that technology fails. We need to preserve our memories by printing the images we take, and storing them in albums, or photo boxes for safe keeping. In order to try and instil my printing beliefs on the ones around me, i've created this list of 5 reason why you should be printing your photos.

1. WE NEED TO THINK OF A PHOTOGRAPH AS AN HEIRLOOM.

A printed photograph can last a lifetime, and sometimes even longer. A print is a tangible memory we can physically hold between our fingers, and reminisce. In most cases we aren't capturing a memory for the present, but rather the future; something we can look back on. A print is something you can hand down to future generations, for years and years.

2. TECHNOLOGY FAILS

Although most devices now a days are referred to as 'smart' they still fail, crash, and die. 67% of people don't back up the images that they take on their phones, and 113 cell phones are lost, or compromised EVERY SINGLE MINUTE. Those are memories, just gone. Heat, humidity, and incompatible software is just a couple more reasons to print your images. Software, and technology is constantly evolving and being replaced with more advanced models. We once thought that floppy disks were a great way to store information, and images but now they're obsolete and completely unreadable using todays technology. Printed images last for hundreds of years when stored in room tempurature album, or photo box.

3. FOR THE MEMORIES

My absolute favourite thing to do is to sit down at the kitchen table, drag out all the family photo albums, and look through our memories. I have more vivd memories of the vacations that we photographed and printed, than the ones we didn't. Our loved ones aren't going to be around forever, so preserve your most fond moments with them in an album for safe keeping.

4. EMBARRASSING YOUR KIDS.

Saying, 'I look incredible in all my childhood, and high school photos' is something not very many people have the pleasure to say. Having embarrassing photos around the house can cause some serious laughter when that new boyfriend comes around.

5. LEAVE A LEGACY

It's been said a million times that a photograph speaks a thousands words, but I believe it can do so much more. Print your memories. They're important to so many future generations, trust me.
